LPM: the construction factory for over 50 years

In Mondovì, in an area whose history is linked to that of the ceramic industry, there is a company that in just under 50 years has made a name for itself by becoming a leader in the reinforced concrete prefabrication sector. Founded in 1976, the company is now a reference point in the sector, thanks to its constant ability to innovate and move towards the future. This path of success is rooted in the far-sighted vision of Vincenzo Pilone, whose commitment during the years of post-war reconstruction laid the foundations for the birth of LPM, which is still run by the family today, with Cristina Pilone – one of the company’s managing directors.

The beginning of an enterprise story

In 1943, Vincenzo Pilone, born in 1900, bought a disused brick kiln. Looking forward to the end of the Second World War and with the prospect of imminent reconstruction, he decided to make an investment in industry. The brickworks grew until the 1970s, a period in which the idea of expanding the product range and areas of intervention became popular. These were the years of change and growth: LPM srl was founded to meet two emerging needs: to increase the size and load-bearing capacity of structural elements while realising faster construction sites. Traditional construction could not meet these demands, prefabrication became widespread and LPM managed to ride the wave by advancing in the market.

Today the company operates throughout northern Italy and southern France, and is distinguished by its ability to create customised products to meet the specific requirements of the commercial, craft, industrial and agricultural sectors. The Mondovì plant employs more than 120 people, including specialised technicians, collaborators and workers. A strong propensity for investment and innovation, great stubbornness, untiring optimism, scrupulous attention to personnel management and a great passion for teamwork have enabled the company to overcome very complex moments in the economic environment.

Thanks to the use of selected raw materials and the adoption of advanced production technologies, LPM guarantees certified high quality products that meet the most stringent European standards. LPM’s prefabs range from large structural elements for production-type buildings to special solutions for sectors such as the food and wine industry.

Sustainability and respect for the environment

Respect for the environment is a founding principle for LPM. In fact, the company is committed to manufacturing products that contribute to reducing the environmental impact of buildings. These include infill panels, which offer excellent thermal insulation, helping to reduce energy consumption for heating and air conditioning.

Over the years, LPM has developed lighter products, thus reducing the economic and environmental impact of transport and assembly operations. In addition, the company makes extensive use of local and, whenever possible, recycled materials to minimise the overall environmental impact.

Particular attention is also paid to the landscaping of the structures: the façade panels, thanks to textures and finishes that reproduce natural materials and customised colours, allow the prefabricated buildings to integrate perfectly with their surroundings.

Technology and certifications in the name of quality

Technological innovation is at the heart of LPM’s success. The company has also adopted advanced solutions to face the challenge of climate change. Since 2011, LPM has installed a photovoltaic system that covers over 50% of the company’s energy needs, contributing significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Recently, a second photovoltaic system has further increased the plant’s energy efficiency.

In addition to technological solutions, LPM is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety at work. The company has obtained important certifications, such as UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for quality and UNI ISO 45001:2018 for health and safety, demonstrating its constant commitment to continuous improvement.

Synergy with the territory and the community

LPM is not only a leader in its field, but also a company with strong roots in the Piedmont region. All the company’s senior maganers belong to the province of Cuneo and the company has chosen to source mainly from raw material suppliers located in Piedmont with whom it has established long-standing relationships. Examples are the cement, sand and gravel that come entirely from the Cuneo area. This choice not only enhances the local production fabric, but also reduces the environmental impact of transport.

The commitment to the community is also reflected in direct economic support to sports associations, education projects, events and charitable donations. LPM also participates on an ongoing basis in activities and projects aimed in particular at young people’s school orientation. A focus on the future and the world around them that is somewhat the secret behind the most successful enterprises!
